  • Name: Analysis of Six Stage Gear Reduction
  • Category: Academic

About the project

A reduction gearbox is a device by which an input speed can be lowered for a slower output speed with the same or more output torque. A reduction gear assembly consists of a set of rotating gears connected to an output shaft. The high-speed incoming motion from the wheelwork is transmitted to the set of rotating gears, wherein the motion or torque is changed.

Successfully and thoroughly analyzed the shaft of the six-stage gear reducer. Performed hand calculations and validated them with finite element analysis using Fusion 360’s simulation workbench. Found that the hand calculations are close to what was acquired from FEA.
