About the project

As a Teaching Assistant at IIT Bombay for the MS101: Makerspace LAB course, I spearheaded the design and proposal of an innovative prototype—an autonomous miniature Universal Testing Machine (UTM). This cutting-edge UTM operates by independently moving along three axes, seamlessly loading specimens, securing them with a precision gripping claw, and then exerting force until fracture. The design incorporates advanced elements such as lead-screw mechanisms and compound gear trains to ensure precise movement, torque, and resolution. It's a blend of engineering ingenuity and hands-on technology, offering a glimpse into the future of materials testing.
